It’s time to possess the land (Part 1)

Abundant Lifesermons

The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you. Genesis 12:1, 2
God chose the Israelites to be a nation He was going to demonstrate his power and provision and presence through.
He said to me, “You are my servant, Israel, in whom I will display my splendor.” Isaiah 49:3
In Genesis 12, God choses a nation but starts with one man, Abraham.

The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; Genesis 12:1, 2

Can you imagine leaving your family, friends and a comfortable life? This is what God tells Abram to do “Comfort zone is the enemy of your progress”
You will not be able to go where God has called you if you remain where you are comfortable, if you remain in the familiar.

God says to Abram, “Go to a land I will show you” God is saying “depend on me, and walk with me”
Abram’s only response was obedience, “There is no faith without obedience” hence the bible says

“Understand, then, that those who have faith are children of Abraham.” Galatians 3:7

Whatever you want to achieve in life is based on this one thing, obedience to God

In the course of time they became impatient and sought to help God, He and Sarai decided that he should sleep with her servant to bare him children. “Go, sleep with my slave; perhaps I can build a family through her.” Genesis16:1

God did not tell him to do that, little did he know he was creating a long lasting problem. Any time you decide to help God you create a long lasting problem.

“A person in a hurry makes mistakes” Proverbs 19:2b

The problem Abram created trying to help God is still in progress even today, the conflict between the son of promise and the son of the bondwoman.

The only way to avoid long lasting problems is to wait on the Lord, God has a perfect plan and purpose.
